Meet Sydney Doulames

Sydney Doulames was born on the island of Guam, where her parents met after the war. Growing up with their stories of survival and sacrifice, she learned early on that some truths are too important to let fade. She writes about love that outlasts conflict, family that stretches across oceans, and the small, unspoken moments that end up meaning everything. Her work asks readers to think about who they are, where they belong, and what connects us to the places and people we come from.Sydney works as an interior designer in California, where she has spent years creating high-end kitchens and bathrooms. Writing came later in her life, inspired by the discovery of photographs, personal letters, and documents that had been lovingly preserved for decades. As she uncovered them, a family story emerged that could no longer remain untold. This memoir is her way of preserving those memories and honouring the legacy they represent.
